So Friday night was a very long, very scary, very sleepless one. Maddy continued to not eat and remained very lethargic until around 4am Saturday when she ate 6 oz. and seemed to get energy back. By noon on Saturday we were cleared to be discharged. But they said that Maddy would still be sick and that we would have to watch her. And in fact, upon leaving the hospital, she had returned to her listless, non-eating ways.
Upon coming home to a very clean house (Thanks Grammy C!!!!) we lazed around and tried to get Maddy to eat. She managed to hold down around 4oz all day. We all went to bed around 8pm and slept VERY VERY good Saturday night (Thanks for the Guinness Uncle Dan!). Come Sunday morning, Maddy was super hungry and sucked down 6 oz of formula...which made us feel much better.
So now, on Sunday, Maddy seems more active, is eating, but the diarrhea and vomiting continue....so we will have to ride it out and hopefully Maddy gets over it sooner than later cuz its very tough to see her so drained. Parenting is exciting :-)

The old Madeline...

Recovering Maddy...

The Madeline we want back!

I am glad she seems to be recovering. Isn't it scary how quickly they become very, very ill at this age :( They get dehydrated soo fast. Seeing the little IV in their tiny arms just breaks my heart. Lots of hugs to the brave little girl!
Thanks Katja. We are still taking it slow this morning, she is FINALLY keeping down the pedialite and some formula. So we will cross our fingers today. How is the Kelpy clan doing with Spring approaching?
I am glad to hear she is feeling better. By the way, have you tasted the pedialite? YUCK!!! When Colin had the flu I figured I should taste what we gave the poor kid. All I can say is he must have felt so thirsty and dehydrated (even after the IV) because he would suck that nasty stuff down like there was no tomorrow!
Kelpy clan is doing well and we've enjoyed some great weather, sporadic, but still. We had a few days of 80 degree weather last week which was great. Colin keeps growing and growing and we're now wearing size 18 mth clothes. Can you believe it?!? At 7.5 mths! He can probably wear this size for another couple of inches, but that's about it... He never gets a chance to really fill them out width wise, he is just a tall boy!
